Help & support
Setting up Trippy, fixing common problems, and how to reach us.
Talk to us
Write to hello@trippymoto.com and a real person, the one who builds Trippy, writes back, usually within two days. For a problem with a ride, send it from the app instead (Settings › Help › Report a problem): you can attach the app's log, which helps us find it much faster.
Trippy is in testing right now. The app comes to Google Play and the App Store before the first units ship; testers get it directly from us. Some details below may change before then.
Getting started
- Install the Trippy app and allow what it asks for: location and Bluetooth (on Android also Nearby devices, and to run without battery limits, so the ride keeps going with the phone locked). Calls and notifications are optional.
- Turn Trippy on: hold its button for 1 second.
- Pair once: the app and Trippy each show a 6-digit code. If they match, tap Codes match on the phone and press Trippy's button. From then on, Trippy only talks to your phone, and connects by itself whenever the app is open with Bluetooth on.
- Ride: search for a place (or paste a Google Maps link), pick a route and tap Start. Lock the phone and put it away; Trippy shows the way, and spoken directions play in your helmet speakers if they're connected to the phone.
Not riding yet? Choose Try the demo first in the app to see a ride without a Trippy.
The button
| Do this | What happens |
|---|---|

| Hold 10 s | Factory reset: Trippy forgets your phone, and you pair again |
| Press while a pairing code shows | Accepts the code (hold 1 s to reject it) |
Fixing problems
Trippy doesn't connect
Open the Trippy app with Bluetooth on and keep the phone near Trippy. On Android, check the app is allowed to run without battery limits (phone Settings › Apps › Trippy › Battery). Still nothing: turn Trippy off and on (hold 5 s, then 1 s). Don't pair Trippy in the phone's own Bluetooth settings; the app does it.
The map stops while I'm riding
The phone loads the map 20 km ahead as you ride, so short stretches without signal are fine. For long rides through poor signal, tap Download whole route before you start. Finding a new route always needs internet.
Directions stop when the phone is locked
Allow the app location, and on Android turn off battery limits for it (phone Settings › Apps › Trippy › Battery); some phones also need Trippy taken off their own "app sleeping" lists. Don't swipe the app away from the app switcher during a ride.
No voice in my helmet
Spoken directions come from the phone, so the helmet set must be connected to the phone (not to Trippy). Check the phone's media volume and that voice is on in the app.
New phone, or I lost my phone
On the old phone: Pairing & security › Move Trippy to a new phone. Without the old phone: hold Trippy's button for 10 s to reset it, then pair with the new phone.
Calls or music don't show on Trippy
Check the Between rides settings in the app (Settings) and allow notifications (and, on Android, phone calls). What Trippy can show differs between Android and iPhone.
What works with Trippy
Which phones?
Android 8.0 or newer with Bluetooth Low Energy, and iPhone on iOS 16 or newer. The phone does the navigating, so it needs GPS and, to find routes, mobile data.
Which bikes?
Any bike or scooter where a small mount fits: handlebar, mirror arm or clamp. Trippy uses a Garmin-style quarter-turn mount, with adapters for common bike mounts. The prototype rides on a mirror-arm adapter.
Helmet intercoms?
Any helmet set that connects to your phone over Bluetooth plays the spoken directions.
Charging?
Over USB-C, from a wall charger, a power bank or your bike's USB port on longer rides.
Does it need Google Maps or Android Auto?
No. The Trippy app does the navigating, with maps and two-wheeler routes from OpenStreetMap. You can paste or share Google Maps links into it.
More questions about Trippy itself: see Questions on the home page.
Account and data
You can use Trippy without an account. If you make one, you can delete it in the app (Settings › Account › Delete account) or on the web at trippymoto.com/delete-account. What we keep and why: privacy policy.
Updates
When there's new software for Trippy, the app offers it on its home screen and installs it over Bluetooth between rides, in about a minute; keep Trippy near the phone until it finishes. What's new and what we're building is in the story so far, and as it happens on Instagram, X and YouTube.
